Principal's News
Welcome back to Term 2. I wish all our students the very best as they focus on their studies.
Over the holidays we were all saddened and touched by the passing of our teacher Slater Pearce. Mr Pearce was a beloved young teacher whose life was a blessing to all who knew him. His fun-loving spirit, sense of humour, unwavering dedication and compassionate heart has made a lasting impression on our students, colleagues and our entire community. I wish to thank our community for the many messages I received expressing their sadness and support for our staff. It was evident by the beautiful words received that Slater was a real champion teacher, cared for all, and students loved to be in his class. There is no doubt that he brought light into the classroom and staffroom. Slater inspired young minds and taught each child with genuine care and kindness. He believed in every student’s potential. Slater’s tragic passing leaves a huge gap in the St Patrick’s College Community but his legacy of love, laughter, and learning remains. We honour his spirit and mourn the loss of a beautiful person taken far too soon.
May he rest in peace.
ANZAC Day
Thank you to the many students and staff who attended the various ANZAC Day marches in the Mackay and District Community. I was very proud of our students who displayed so much pride in their uniform and respect for the many men and women who have served and continue to serve Australia and New Zealand. Congratulations to the AUSLAN Club who performed both the Australian and New Zealand National Anthems at the ANZAC Day Service in Mackay.

Student Led Conferences Years 7 – 10
It was wonderful to welcome so many of our parents, guardians and students to the recent Student Led Conferences at the Mercy Campus this week. These evenings offer a valuable opportunity for students, families, and teachers to collaborate and strengthen their partnership. They also serve as a meaningful way for parents to stay engaged in their child's learning journey.
Parent Teacher Interviews for Year 11 – 12 will be held on Thursday 15 May. Bookings via Parent Lounge will open next week with details to be advised.
Welcome to New Staff
I would like to welcome Mr Tristyn Dudas (Teacher, Mercy Campus) and Miss Ebony Rix (Counsellor Mercy Campus) to the St Patrick’s College community. We are very happy to have you join us at our Mercy Campus.
Parent Engagement Evening
I warmly welcome all parents and guardians to attend our Parent Engagement Evening in our Senior Campus Auditorium on Tuesday 6 May. The session will commence at 6pm with canapes served from 5:30pm.
Thank you to Mr Dean Andric who will present the St Patrick’s Academic Journey. If you would like to know more about how we guide students through their academic pathways to ensure their success, please come along and join us.

School Fees Explained
Please find below a “School Fees Explained” flyer, developed to inform our Catholic Education families of the Federal Government SRS Funding model (Gonski model) and the impact on School Fees for Catholic Schools. The flyer outlines the direct nexus between the Federal Government means-tested Capacity to Contribute of each School community, and School Fees.
